The Republic of Ireland is basically an island extension of Great Britain. Its closeness to water bodies makes it ideal for various water sports such as Coupe de la Jeunesse. This international rowing regatta sees competitors row over 2,000 meters every year. Since its novel tournament, the Coupe has only been won by Italy, Great Britain and France. You can bet on this tournament at some of the best betting sites in Ireland. The advent of technology brought about the establishment of this website that covers the various aspects of the tournament.

Chairman’s Welcome Address:

On behalf of the local Organising Committee of the Coupe de la Jeunesse, I would like to extend a traditional Irish welcome or “céad míle fáilte” to all competitors, coaches, officials and spectators. Ireland has been a proud member of the Coupe rowing family for many years and several of our more successful rowers started their international career at the Coupe.

This is Cork’s third year hosting the competition after previously welcoming the Coupe in 1999 and 2008. On each occasion we have strived to provide the competitors with a memorable experience both on and off the water. Our Organising Team have been working hard to ensure that no detail is overlooked.

Following the election of the Czech Republic to the Coupe, the competition now has 13 members and we look forward to seeing all of them compete in Cork.

County Mayor’s Welcome Address:

It is my great honour to welcome the Coupe de la Jeunesse to Cork in July. Rowing has always played an important role in the lives of those in Cork. I am very fortunate to have an exceptional vantage point from my office in County Hall that overlooks the River Lee in which I regularly watch young rowers take to the water. Seeing these young rowers always fills me with a great sense of pride to witness such skill, drive and dedication in Cork’s youth. I am therefore thrilled and honoured that Cork is playing host to this fantastic international regatta, which encourages young rowers.

I would like to welcome all the visiting athletes, their coaches, families and supporters to our great county and commend these young rowers for the hard work, passion and dedication that has brought them here. While this is a competition, I wish to remind all participants to take some time to enjoy all that this city has to offer. Cork is truly a remarkable place with so much to do, see and experience. Go and kiss the Blarney Stone; take a trip on the Dursey Island Cable Car, running 250m above the sea; visit Mizen Head, the most south-westerly point in Ireland or sample some mouth-watering Cork artisan produce. There is so much to do in our beautiful county, I hope you enjoy each and every minute.

Lastly, I want to wish all rowers the very best of luck and looking forward to seeing you all on the water next July.
